The Baptiste Stanek 5tet is a band with a distinctly international identity, bringing together five musicians from diverse cultures and musical backgrounds. Founded around tenor saxophonist and bass clarinetist Baptiste Stanek, the quintet features Marta Wajdzik  on alto saxophone, Wes Georgiev on piano, Thiago Duarte on double bass, and Juan Ibarra on drums.In June 2024, the group recorded their debut album, "Basel Smash", under the LOUMI Records label. 

 

This album is the result of an artistic collaboration between Baptiste Stanek and Juan Ibarra, each contributing their own musical universe through original compositions. The record showcases a wide range of influences, from candombe to neo-classical music, as well as modern jazz from the 2000s.

 

Over the past few months, the musicians have shared numerous musical experiences, strengthening their bond and developing a unique group chemistry. With this album release tour, the Baptiste STANEK 5tet asserts its distinctive musical identity, offering a sound that is deeply rooted in the diversity of its influences.
